Rangers News · Rangers Find Rhythm Versus Pirates

Between cancelled games and injuries, it’s been difficult for the Lakewood Rangers Boys Basketball (4-4) team to find a rhythm.  Well, not all the players are back quite yet, but tonight the Rangers put it all together in a decisive 54-38 Battle of the Bridge triumph over the Rocky River Pirates. Defensive intensity keyed the Rangers 16-6 first quarter lead, along with an offensive outburst from senior Pete Patsouras (18 Points), who returned to the lineup after missing the last game.  Patsouras had 11 rebounds, and scored almost all of his points before the game was decided, most of them coming on contested driving layups.  The finisher was junior Hakeem Quran, besides playing his usual tough, physical defense, finished with 19 points on 3’s and driving layups.  Junior M.J Grayer had one of his best games, playing tough defense, grabbing 8 rebounds, and chipping in with 5 points.  As usual, Junior Riley Ulintz was rock solid at point and scored 7.  Senior Ahmed Muhammed played a solid all around game (2 points) and sophomore Myles Harper  (3 points) provided valuable minutes off the bench.  It’s great to play Rocky River, our closest neighbor to the west.  Like Lakewood, they are a community based team. Like Lakewood, they don’t assemble a team, but build a program.  Tonight, the guys from 44107 won. Here’s to many more contests with the Pirates.  Long Live Lakewood.
